Presence of Mind Therapy, established in 2017, is a group therapy practice dedicated to empowering those struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and inner conflicts. Our team of licensed therapists offers a comprehensive range of therapeutic services, including in-person, telehealth, group therapy, psychedelic retreats, and supplemental healing classes. We combine traditional approaches in psychotherapy with somatic processing and Spiritual exploration. We facilitate a transformative mindbody healing experience for clients and follow the most up-to-date research in the field to offer our clients innovative strategies that are supported by science. We believe in the healing of Mother Earth and her inhabitants.
Our goal is to broaden our reach by growing our community, partnering with local healers, and training our clinicians on best practices. The ideal candidate for this position will be a New Jersey Licensed Therapist, experienced in humanity and one who uses sound judgement and clinical theory. Advanced certificates and specialty training are preferred. Licensed therapists with experience in mindfulness-based practices, yoga, somatic processing, breath work, sound healing, energy work, non-ordinary states of consciousness training, and other supplemental modalities are encouraged to apply.

LCSW’s, LPCs, and LCADCs are highly preferred as we transition into the next phase of growth. Certifications in substance treatment and/or clinical supervision are required. This is a W2 Full-Time role where employees work to build their case loads and build a professional presence within the practice over 3-6 months. At the Full-Time status, employees receive a generous compensation package including PTO, Health, Vision, and Dental Benefits, weekly Clinical Supervision, experiential training in holistic healing, and retreat work. Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Job Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients, colleagues, supervisors, referral sources, and community partners grounded in mutual safety and respect.
- Conduct comprehensive substance use, mental health, psychosocial, and environmental assessments to determine treatment needs and appropriate levels of care.
- Screen, assess, and diagnose substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns within the clinician's scope of practice and credentials.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans that address substance use, recovery goals, mental health symptoms, and overall wellness.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing evidence-based and recovery-oriented treatment approaches.
- Facilitate cognitive, affective, behavioral, and lifestyle changes that support sustained recovery and treatment goals.
- Provide relapse prevention planning, harm reduction interventions, recovery support services, and crisis intervention as clinically indicated.
- Coordinate care with medical providers, psychiatrists, treatment programs, schools, probation officers, family members, and other community resources when appropriate and authorized.
- Identify and connect clients with appropriate community resources, recovery supports, and higher levels of care as needed.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, New Jersey state regulations, ethical standards, and practice policies regarding documentation and confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional telehealth environment with appropriate technology to support HIPAA-compliant services.
- Engage in community outreach, networking, and professional relationship-building to increase awareness of treatment services and develop referral partnerships.
- Contribute to the professional growth of clinicians, interns, and supervisees through mentorship, consultation, and participation in the collaborative culture of Presence of Mind Therapy.
Job Duties
- Conduct intake evaluations, biopsychosocial assessments, substance use screenings, and ongoing reassessments for individual and group clients.
- Assess for substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, risk factors, and client readiness for change.
- Develop, implement, and update treatment plans collaboratively with clients to establish measurable and achievable recovery goals.
- Provide individual and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based interventions such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, harm reduction, and other clinically appropriate approaches.
- Monitor client progress toward treatment goals and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions through ongoing clinical assessment.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and HIPAA-compliant documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and supervision records.
- Develop relapse prevention plans and recovery maintenance strategies with clients.
- Provide referrals and coordinate care with detoxification programs, inpatient treatment facilities, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), recovery support services, and other community resources as needed.
- Collect payment for services and submit required insurance documentation in accordance with practice policies.
- Collaborate with billing personnel to verify insurance benefits and address outstanding claims and balances.
- Participate in weekly individual and/or group clinical supervision and interdisciplinary consultation.
- Engage in community outreach activities, networking, and educational presentations to support referral development and community awareness of substance use and mental health services.
- Maintain professional relationships with local treatment providers, healthcare professionals, recovery organizations, schools, and community stakeholders.
- Advocate for individuals impacted by substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and systemic barriers to care.
- Conduct consultations with prospective clients to assess treatment needs, explain available services, and facilitate appropriate referrals or clinician assignments.
- Provide mentorship, task management, and supervisory support to interns and staff under the direction of Maureen Lennon-Schafer, LCSW, Founder and Clinical Supervisor.
Full-Time Supervisory Therapist
Job Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a relationship with clients, colleagues, and supervisors of mutual safety and respect.
- Gather and interpret social, personal, environmental, and health information of clients, compliant with HIPAA and practice policy.
- Evaluate and treat problems within the clinician’s scope of practice using 1:1 and group psychotherapeutic intervention.
- Facilitate cognitive, affective, and behavioral changes consistent with treatment goals.
- Identify appropriate resources and connect the client with additional services as necessary.
- Maintain a professional telehealth environment, including appropriate technology to support HIPAA-compliant sessions from home.
- Engage in community outreach and professional networking to create referral networks and ensure a steady flow of clients that best fit with therapists and clinical approach.
- Contribute to the growth and development of budding clinicians in the field by providing high-level mentorship, oversight, and contributing to the collaborative culture of Presence of Mind Therapy.
Job Duties
- Conduct intake assessment of 1:1 and group clients as applicable.
- Create and update treatment plans for each client by working with the client to create achievable goals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment services through regular 1:1 and group sessions.
- Keep detailed HIPAA-compliant notes of every client and supervision interaction on a weekly basis.
- Collect payment for and submit both in-network and out-of-network insurance claims for each session on a weekly basis.
- Collaborate with the practice biller to ensure the verification of the client’s insurance benefits prior to the initial assessment and to follow up on outstanding claims and balances on a weekly basis.
- Engage in community outreach suggested at 5 hours weekly by collaborating with the practice marketing team and the community connection specialist to grow referrals and maintain caseload.
- Maintain relationships in the community by personal relationship building with local like-minded businesses and professionals.
- Advocate for marginalized populations and people in need by promoting the services of the practice to community members via social media, directly, and professional referrals.
- Consult with potential clients in an effort to learn more about treatment goals, share information about the practice, and assign clients to an appropriate clinician within the practice.
- Meet with supervisor weekly for ongoing 1:1 and/or group clinical supervision and to collaborate effectively with other allied professionals.
